Emozionante. E' disarmante pensare l'abisso tra lo spessore di talune figure
del passato e la mediocrità della classe dirigente odierna, ad ogni livello. Mentre continua la distruzione della legalità e l'ammutinamento del dissenso, l'opposizione si divide in tutto e su tutto.

Noi non lo crediamo. Noi pensiamo piuttosto che nel presentarsi di questi mali si manifesti non una inevitabile conseguenza dei sistemi democratici, ma piuttosto una loro degenerazione profonda: una degenerazione dovuta alla contraddizione sempre maggiore tra il carattere sociale della produzione e le forme della conduzione economica, tra le motivazioni egoistiche sostenute come molla della società capitalistica e il bisogno crescente di solidarietà e di reciproca comprensione umana, tra il permanere di zone vastissime di vecchia e nuova emarginazione e la sfacciata opulenza, tra le prediche moraleggianti e i pessimi esempi pratici dati proprio da molti di coloro che dovrebbero fornire il buon esempio.
Non è dunque il sistema delle libertà democratiche che determina i guasti e le contraddizioni della società in cui viviamo, ma la incapacità di saldare libertà, giustizia ed efficienza.
